Rules adopted by the OES Scholarship Board
I. Students must attest to their Masonic or OES relationship and be prepared to present credentials of verification.
II. Applicants must submit completed applications for Scholarship(s), and supporting documents, to the Executive Secretary no later than June 15.
III. Awards are made annually to begin in the fall semester. Scholarship amounts may vary, depending upon the availability of funds, unless specified in the scholarship description. Applicants will be notified of awards by letter prior to the fall semester.
IV. Awards will be mailed to the school in the name of both the student and the institution. One half of the award will be mailed for the fall semester, the balance to be mailed for the spring semester. It is the student’s responsibility to contact the Financial Aid Office at his/her institution to receive the award. In the event a student cannot matriculate the second semester, that portion of the scholarship shall be returned to the Grand Chapter of Kansas and the Scholarship Fund upon which it was drawn.

OES Scholarships

Who May Apply:
OES Scholarships are to be given to university Juniors who have completed ninety (90) credit hours for use in their Senior year. Two (2) years may have been completed at a junior/community college. Availability of funds will determine the number and the amounts of scholarships awarded.

Who May Apply:
Students in their Freshman through Senior year may apply for the Scholarship to be used at a four (4) year college/university in Kansas. Students may reapply for up to four (4) years. Read (b) for eligibility. A $1,000.00 Scholarship will be awarded each year.
Jerry K. VanAllen Memorial Scholarship

Who May Apply:
Students who have completed their first two (2) years of study at a Junior/Community or four (4) year college/university, and are continuing their education at any accredited four (4) year college or university in Kansas. Awards will be based on financial need with service, leadership and scholastic standing also to be considered factors. Students who receive an award their Junior year may re-apply for their Senior year. One (1) $500.00 Scholarship will be awarded each year.
Mary & Melvin Grubb
Masonic or Eastern Star Affiliation Required (d)
Who May Apply:
Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior students at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. (Pre-Med or Graduate Students are not eligible.) Applicants may apply each year (but not more than four (4) times). Awards will be made based upon scholastic standing and personal need. Amount depending upon availability of funds.
The Eugene S. & Arvilla U. Parker Scholarship

Who May Apply:
Only students at Kansas State University having completed their Junior year, having accumulated at least ninety (90) credit hours, may apply for this scholarship to be used for their Senior year of schooling. A $1,000.00 scholarship to be awarded.
Dorothy C. Cooper Scholarship

Who May Apply:
Students who have completed their first two (2) years of study at a junior college or four (4) year college who plan to continue their education at one (1) of the six (6) state Universities name in item (c) below. Juniors must have a minimum of sixty (60) credit hours, seniors must have a minimum of ninety (90) credit hours. A student who received an award in their Junior year, may re-apply for their Senior year. It is hoped that two (2) scholarships can be awarded each year, depending on the availability of funds.
Frances M. Farr Memorial Scholarship

Who May Apply:
Students who have completed their first two (2) years of study at a junior college or a four (4) year college may apply. Juniors must have a minimum of sixty (60) credit hours, Seniors must have a minimum of ninety (90) credit hours. Students who received an award in their Junior year, may re-apply for their Senior year.
Rose Shumaker Scholarship for Medical Technician or Nursing Education

Who May Apply:
Students pursuing a degree in Nursing or studying to become a Medical Technician may apply in their Freshman through Senior year. Students may re-apply for up to four (4) years. A $500.00 scholarship to be awarded, depending upon the availability of funds.
Faith M. Snyder Scholarship

Students in their Freshman through Senior year may apply for this scholarship to be used at a four (4) year college/university. Students may re-apply for up to four (4) years. Scholarship amount depends upon the availability of funds.
Fern Chapter #107 Scholarship

Students in their Freshman through Senior year may apply for this scholarship to be used at a four (4) year college/university. Students may re-apply for up to four (4) years. Scholarship amount depends on the availability of funds.
Graham Chapter #395 Scholarship

Students in their Freshman through Senior year may apply for this scholarship to be used at a four (4) year college/university. Students may re-apply for up to four (4) years. Scholarship amount depends upon the availability of funds.
Ruth Cearley Memorial Scholarship
Must be a member of a Masonic Youth Group
Who May Apply:
High School Seniors, or college students, who are currently active in their respective youth organization are eligible. The award is to be used toward either junior college or four (4) year college training. This award is open to members of the three (3) Masonic Youth Groups on an annual rotating basis: Job’s Daughters (2019-2020), Rainbow for Girls (2020-2021), DeMolay (2021-2022). Applicants must include a letter of verification of youth group membership from their youth leader. The award is $500.00.
Danny Hendricks Memorial Scholarship
No Affiliation is Required
Who May Apply:
Any High School Senior who will be attending an accredited four (4) year college. The scholarship will be awarded based on financial need with preference given to students whose family cannot otherwise afford college tuition. Recipients may apply for up to four (4) years. The amount of the award depends upon the availability of funds, up to $1,000.00.
Notes on Requirements
(a) Applicants must be U.S. Citizens and residents of Kansas.
(b) Applicants must be full-time students enrolled in twelve (12) hours or more per semester at an accredited institution of higher education in Kansas.
(c) As nearly as possible or practical, all available funds shall be divided equally among the following universities: University of Kansas, Lawrence; Kansas State University, Manhattan; Fort Hays State University, Hays; Emporia State University, Emporia; Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg and Wichita State University, Wichita or any four year accredited college in the state of Kansas.
(d) Masonic affiliation, as defined below, is a requirement for all but the Hendricks and Cearley Youth Scholarships.
Definition: Master Masons and Members of the Eastern Star, Children and Grandchildren of Masons and/or Members of the Order of the Eastern Star shall be eligible to receive scholarship awards.
(e) Students may be eligible for more than one (1) scholarship. Awards will be made at the discretion of the Scholarship Board within the stipulations of each individual Scholarship Fund to best utilize the monies available each year.
